On behalf of the MoDeSt Society, I would like to extend a cordial invitation to attend the forthcoming Biannual Conference on Modification, Degradation and Stabilization of Polymers from 5 – 9 September 2010. The venue is the Hotel Titania, in the heart of the historical and commercial center of Athens, Greece. This provides as well a unique opportunity to discover one of the oldest cities in the world, also reputed as the “cradle of western civilisation”.
MoDeSt 2010 continues a series of successful and well-attended meetings, the most recent of which were held in Liege (Belgium, 2008) and San Sebastian (Spain, 2006). MoDeSt Conferences are by all measures truly international meetings, drawing polymer scientists and engineers, or simply individuals interested in the present and future of plastics. The objective is to present, discuss and diffuse the state-of-the-art knowledge in polymer modification, degradation and stabilization. Pertinent aspects will be covered in a comprehensive and well-structured program, including advances in nanotechnology, polymers and the environment, bio-related polymers and development of advanced textile materials (Topics). Invitations to speakers are being issued and details of the confirmed speakers will be posted on the conference web page. Proposals for oral and poster presentations are kindly welcome, noticing the fact that prizes for best poster presentation will be available by the MoDeSt Society.
As Chairman of MoDeSt 2010, I strongly encourage the attendance of both academic and industry professionals, so as to exchange ideas and perspectives for polymer future and to define challenges and promising areas conforming to current and upcoming market needs. It consists of an excellent opportunity to promote collaborations and interactions between participants as well as organizations in advancing polymer science and technology.
Together with the whole local organizing committee, I am looking forward to seeing you in Athens in September 2010!
